Description:
Resembling his mother in color, he shares the soft gray hues of her pelt and her vibrant blue eyes. He is a bi-colored tom, white covering from the tips of his delicate paws up his belly, over his neck, to cover spots on his face. What is not white is a pale gray with dark, mackerel stripes of a near black gray. Never meant to be a warrior, he lacks the muscle mass of most warriors, a thin, lanky tom that seems to be all legs and tail. He has tiny paws, comparatively, but they are perfect for working with herbs. As slim as he is, his ears and eyes both look large, though not extraordinarily so. However, his gaze is intense and piercing, seeming to be able to see into the very soul of cats. list]Personality:
A natural born healer, he is a compassionate tom that has time for anyone in need. Regardless of where a cat's loyalties lay, he feels he has a duty to take care of those in need. He is more than willing to cross borders if another cat needs it, though if he is caught in a tough spot, his only real option is to flee. He's a horrible fighter and not much of a hunter. He'd much rather be gathering herbs, tending to cats, or learning. What he is learning about is not of importance nearly so much as the act of learning. Listening to the tales of the elders, swapping tips with other healers, even just reviewing what he knows and where plants grow makes him happy. He's a very dedicated, motivated medicine cat... The only failing he has is one that none but his sister know. He's rather embarrassed by it, but whenever he sees a couple, he feels lonely, and it is rare that he sees kits and does not want for one of his own. As much as he may regret not being able to start a family, he still loves his position and would not trade it for anything.
History:
Born to an older queen, it was perhaps of no real surprise to anyone when one of the kits was born sickly. That kit was none other than young Ashkit. The only one in a litter of four to resemble his mother, he was the tiniest of them, a runt without a doubt. His tiny size was not the only issue he had, and for the first week, he was constantly kept in the medicine cat den to be looked over. Though Silverstep was allowed to take her son back to the nursery after the first week, it felt like no more than a few days would pass before she had to take him back to the medicine cat den.That was where his innitial interest in healing began. Always stuck around other sick cats and the perfume of herbs, he was a curious kitten. He couldn't get up to play, so he would lay beside the medicine cat when he wasn't busy and ask him questions. What started out as curiosity soon bloomed into genuine interest, and he began to ask Birchleaf to teach him more and more. By the time he was six moons old, there was no doubt within the clan which path he would take. Officially his mentor, Birchleaf taught Ashpaw everything he knew about healing. It was obvious even from a young age that he had a talent for it, and soon enough, Birchleaf was allowing the young tom to do more than just hunt for herbs for the clan.Four seasons past, and Ashwing watched his sister become a warrior before he became a full blown medicine cat. Birchleaf was prepared to step down and become an elder. Ashwing couldn't deny that he left great relief in Birchleaf retiring before age took him. It gave the tom the chance to practice being the medicine cat solo, but in a tough stop, he still has someone to turn to.
